Kaizer Chiefs head coach Fernando Da Cruz has insisted that their January transfer window plans will not be about just adding numbers to their squad but rather value.

Amakhosi snapped up Thabo Moloisane, Langelihle Phili, Khanyisa Mayo, Adolf Mtasingwa, Faiz Abrahams (on loan), Renaldo Leaner and most recently Elias Mokwana during the current campaign though injuries have prevented some of their players from featuring regularly.

Despite the signings, they have however experienced indifferent results that has seen the knocked out of two cup competitions – the MTN8 and CAF Confederation Cup.

In the Betway Premiership, the Glamour Boys sit in a disappointing fifth place even though they started the campaign on top of the standings.

Speaking to the club’s website, the French tactician wants their recruitment, which has been heavily criticised, to be spot on.

“There are two months until January, so there is still time and matches to play,” he said.

“We don’t just want to recruit players. We want to add value to the squad, so it is very important to do it right.

“We know that we have a lack of experience in certain positions to help and support our young, talented players every day in training to develop and mature.”

The Glamour Boys face a tricky home tie against Siwelele FC in Sunday’s Carling Knockout Cup quarterfinal tie at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane.

Kick-off for the clash is scheduled for 18:00.
