Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi has defended young midfielder Samkelo Zwane after the criticism he has received following the 4-0 hammering by Mamelodi Sundowns.
Amakhosi lost 4-0 to Masandawana on Saturday, with another chance of ending the club’s trophy drought falling away.

Sundowns controlled the game from the get go, with Chiefs struggling to contain them in midfield and at the back. One of the players who was picked out for criticism was Zwane, but Nabi insisted it’s unfair to blame young players and older players should’ve stood up.
“It’s true that some of the youngsters didn’t show what we wanted,” he told journalists.
“You spoke about Zwane, but it’s a learning curve for those youngster.

“Especially what we need to do in these kind of big games, the experienced players need to take responsibility. That’s something that today didn’t happen.
“All those young players they are looking up to those players with more experience, who have played those kind of games more than 100 times, they are looking up to them.
“They need to understand how big this club is, how big the history of this club is, no one, no matter how skilful he might be is above this club. That’s their responsibility in difficult moments like this.
“Zwane is a young player, he still has all those years ahead of him. He’s going to improve and he wasn’t the worst player on the field. There were others and more experienced him.
“That’s why those experienced players with experience need to take responsibility.”
Chiefs now have another break and only return to action on 27 November against Richards Bay.
