Stellenbosch FC winger Kgaogelo Sekgota has expressed his gratitude and excitement after scoring his first in the colors of the club after completing a move from Kaizer Chiefs.
Sekgota joined Stellies in the recent transfer window after he left Chiefs by mutual consent. The former Swallows winger, who at one point was named Chiefs’ biggest star by Arthur Zwane, somewhat struggled to get game-time last campaign which resulted in his exit.
He’s already made 11 appearance for Stellies, and opened his goal-scoring account after netting the second goal in their Carling Knockout Cup Round of 16 clash with Chippa United.
“First of all, I would like to thank my teammates and the coach for the opportunity that they have given me, and for their support. We are motivated, working hard as a team, and playing well, and because of that, I am feeling good,” Sekgota told the club’s media team.
“As a player, you try your best to always be at your best, and the team has been amazing in helping me get closer to achieving that. We’ve got an amazing squad, coach, and technical team, so everything is here for me to be at my best.
“A big part of the culture in Stellenbosch is around grapes, and the grapes are sweet. I’m enjoying my football and very happy to be here.”
Sekgota also says Stellies are eager to going further in the Carling Knockout, where they have been drawn against Polokwane City in the quarter-finals.
“We are mindful of how much the cup means to us, our supporters, and our families. Winning the first round has motivated us even more, we’re hungry for success and looking forward to the next match,” he added.
