Downs Extend Lead To Three Points

Mamelodi Sundowns extended the lead on top to three points after putting five past Polokwane City, while Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates dropped points in the latest action of the DStv Diski Challenge.

Another stellar weekend in the DDC which saw 27 goals scored across the country.

Unbeaten Sundowns started the weekend on a high after hammering new side Polokwane City by 5-2 at the Lucas Moripe Stadium.

Sinethemba Badela’s side maintained their unbeaten run and made five wins out of seven matches. Pule Manya, Keabetswe Ramotsei, Onele Rulwana, Kutlwano Letlhaku and Mzwekhaya Nkonxeni were all on the scoresheet for Downs.

Amakhosi dropped two massive points against their rivals Moroka Swallows at Dobsonville Stadium in a 1-1 draw extending their winless run to two matches.

Kgaugelo Ramushu opened the scoring for Amakhosi within 24 minutes. Deep in the second half, Amaswaiswai equalised.

Joseph Makhanya’s Orlando Pirates had a tough task against unbeaten Sekhukhune United at Rand Stadium which ended with a 1-1 draw with Mohau Nkota opening the scoring just before the halftime break for Bucs.

Lungelo Mokoena equalized for Babina Noko six minutes after the break.

City were the other big winners on the weekend after hammering defending champions Supersport United by 5-2.

South African junior international Aviwe Ndevu and former Ubuntu FC talent Jody Ah Shene both scored a brace.

Phakamani Mahlambi’s younger brother Seluleko Mahlambi scored the fifth goal of the game to seal all three points.
