Chiefs Update: Six Players Out

Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed they will be without six players in their must-win final DStv Premiership match of the 2023/24 season.

Amakhosi currently sit in eighth place on 36 points, level on points with AmaZulu and Polokwane City but ahead on the better goal difference.

But Golden Arrows with 35 points and Moroka Swallows with 34 are also still in the race, meaning only a win – ideally by more than one goal – will likely secure Amakhosi a top eight finish.

They face already-relegated Cape Town Spurs at DHL Stadium on Saturday, but former Chiefs coach Ernst Middendorp might be keen to upset his old employers, especially after the cloud over his departure.

Chiefs themselves still have a busy treatment table, with five players sidelined with injuries, while Edmilson Dove remains suspended.

“There have been no recoveries insofar as injuries are concerned for Chiefs,” the club stated.

“Players such as George Matlou, Keagan Dolly, Reeve Frosler, Dillan Solomons and Tebogo Potsane are still nursing an assortment of ailments.

“Defender, Edmilson Dove, will also miss his third game in a row after he picked up his second red card of the season against TS Galaxy two weeks ago.”
