Domingo Breaks Silence On City Move

Cape Town City’s new acquisition Haashim Domingo has given club fans an insight on what they can anticipate from him ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.

The former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder put pen-to-paper on a two-year deal, with an option to extend for a further year, with the Western Cape-based outfit following his premature exit from Raja Club Athletic in Morocco, as previously reported by iDiski Times.

Domingo, 28, made just 10 Botola Pro League games under former Orlando Pirates coach Josef Zinnbauer, and last played for the team back in April.

Upon his return to the Mother City, after leaving the now-defunct Ajax Cape Town at an early age to join Portugal side Guimaraes in 2015, Domingo took to the club’s social media pages to deliver a message to everyone associated with the club.

“The biggest factor would be, definitely the playing style, the identity of the club, and then also to be back in the Mother City,” he said on the club’s social media pages.

“What I would like to achieve is definitely to help the club and the team be successful. From a personal perspective – goals and assists. But for me it’s all about the team.

“The foundation I would say would be my faith, my family. Just having the proper mindset you know, just to keep going you know.”

He briefly spoke of his stint in North Africa and how he tried to stay positive.

“I think it’s a lot driven by faith, having the correct faith. That’s what kept me going most of the time,” he stated.

In closing, Domingo touched on what sets him apart from other players, as well as a message for the club’s fans.

“The type of player I am, definitely be a technical player you know, that’s my strong point. As you can see, I’m not the physical type, but definitely technical.

“I’m extremely excited to play in front of them [City fans] and hopefully they can come out in numbers and support us.”

Domingo joins Alifeyo Sibusiso Ziba, Elson Sithole, and Namibian international Prince Tjiueza as signings City announced for the 2024/25 term, while Fortune Makaringe, Kamohelo Mokotjo, Carlinhos have also joined but are yet to be unveiled.
