Mammila – Chiefs Very Easy To Play Against

Chippa United head coach Morgan Mammila has warned Kaizer Chiefs they won’t get an easy opener in the 2023/24 DStv Premiership season.

Mammila returned to Chippa in the off-season after helping Swallows alongside Musa Nyatama to an unlikely place in the top eight of the league last season.

And with Chiefs on the horizon at Moses Mabhida Stadium next week, the Chilli Boys head coach was in a confident mood about their chances at the official launch of the league.

“Very easy team to play against, very easy… you know them, we all know them, we know their advantages and disadvantages,” Mammila said.

“One thing is for sure, don’t undermine them, they will hurt you hard, they are a big team, it’s not a joke, good signings. But one thing for sure, if they don’t get what they want in the first ten minutes, they get frustrated and that’s what we want to do.”

Chippa have secured the likes of Augustine Mulenga, Goodman Mosele, Luvuyo Memela, Menzi Ndwandwe, Craig Martin and are closing in on Baraka Majogoro ahead of the new season.

With the new recruits and a solid pre-season, Mammila says they are in high spirits to start the new campaign in what he described as the hottest seat in PSL football.

“To be honest we had a [good] preparation [for the new season], if you compare last season and this season, I think we much better organizationally, experience-wise, than the previous season,” Mammila said.

“It’s always good when you look back and compare from previous seasons and this season, we haven’t touched the ball of course in a [competitive] match, but there have been good signs in our friendly matches, overall I’m happy with the progress.”

The two sides will meet in Durban on Sunday afternoon at 15h00 at the iconic 2010 FIFA World Cup venue.
