Manyisa – Riveiro Can Emulate Krol

Former Orlando Pirates captain Oupa Manyisa says patience is required with Jose Riveiro as was given to Ruud Krol over his three-year tenure.

Krol won the MTN8, league and Nedbank Cup in his final season in charge of the club, after several disappointments in the two seasons prior.

In 2009, they finished as league runners-up, and Nedbank Cup runners-up in 2010, as well as being knocked out in the preliminary round of the CAF Champions League.

“Personally… I think he can, he just needs more time, we know Pirates supporters don’t have patience, if they can give him time, he will do wonders, you can see it,” Manyisa said on the Bettor Podcast.

“He’s won three trophies, now is the time he must challenge for the league [against Sundowns].”

The Buccaneers were ironically eliminated by a Botswana Premier League side back then – which was repeated this season when they were dumped out by Jwaneng Galaxy for a place in the group stages.

“We were also knocked out by a Botswanan team [in the CAF Champions League] it was Gaborone United, we played in PE and then [in 2013], we were in the final,” he added.

“In football such happens, it’s how you pick yourself up, dust yourself and move.”
