Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi has spoken for the first time since Amakhosi confirmed they will not extend his contract.
Akpeyi is one of several Chiefs stars whose deals will not be extended when they will expire by the end of June, the club confirmed on Wednesday.
The Nigerian goalkeeper, Samir Nurkovic, Lazalous Kambole, Lebogang Manyama, Kearyn Baccus, and Daniel Cardoso will all leave the club as free agents, while Anthony Akumu Agay was put up for sale.
Akpeyi has commented on his exit, saying while this journey ends, another one will begin as he is seemingly not ready to hang up his boots just yet.

“An era has come and gone and a new one will begin, God has being faithful throughout this journey. My love for Kaizer Chiefs knows no bound. Every part makes me strong for the journey ahead,” he wrote.
Akpeyi only made 12 appearances for Chiefs in 2021/22 after falling down the pecking order midway through the season, with Brandon Petersen and Bruce Bvuma getting the nod in the second half of the campaign.
Overall, the 35-year-old made 69 appearances since joining the club from Chippa United in 2019.
