Bafana Defender’s Saudi Move Collapses

Bafana Bafana defender Siyanda Xulu’s move to Josef Zinnbauer’s Al-Wehda has fallen through at the last minute.

Xulu, 32, parted ways with SuperSport United after agreeing to a mutual termination of his contract, which had one year left, due to lack of game time.

The former Kaizer Chiefs centre-back represented Bafana Bafana with flying colours at the 2023 AFCON and helped them to reach the semi-final stage where they bagged the bronze medal spot.

iDiski Times understands that Xulu’s move to Al-Wehda was close to completion until Zinnbauer decided against the signing at the last minute, as first reported by FARPost.

According to information received, Xulu was ready for medicals when the deal collapsed, after Zinnbauer asked the club not to sign the Bafana defender even though the club sporting director and club president were happy to have Xulu in the team.

The Saudi Arabian window transfer is closing today (Tuesday), but any club in that league can sign Xulu outside of the window transfer as he is a free agent.
