The 28-year-old has spent most parts of his career in Europe though he couldn’t make into the top leagues.
He spoke to iDiski Times senior writer Matshelane Mamabolo in edition 203 of the newspaper where he admitted that it is a privilege to have played overseas however couldn’t miss an opportunity to return home and play for a side he grew up supporting.
“I think if you look at it, every footballer wants to play at the highest level,” Cele told iDiski Times.
“And for me, the dream was to go to the top leagues in Europe, but that did not happen. Of course, I was blessed to make it to Europe, and it has been a pretty fulfilling career out there. But we remain proud.
“I did well on that side, but when the opportunity to come back home and the club was Chiefs – my childhood favourite club – I was not going to let it go. I am living my dream playing for Chiefs and I’d like to achieve big things with the club.”
