Nasreddine Nabi wants to bring his own technical team should he agree to join Kaizer Chiefs as the successor to head coach Arthur Zwane.
The Young Africans SC boss broke the news to his squad this weekend before their trophy parade that he will be leaving the Tanzanian giants at the end of his contract.
Having rejected a proposal for new terms, the Tunisian coach is seeking a fresh new challenge for his career after winning a domestic treble this season and reaching the CAF Confederation Cup final.
Amakhosi first approached the coach around two weeks ago, iDiski Times has learnt, and after impressing during early engagements, both parties agreed they would be happy to open personal talks after the end of the season, which finished this Monday afternoon with their 1-0 win over Azam in the FA Cup final.
Nabi previously received concrete offers from Raja Club Athletic, Wydad Athletic Club and Esperance in recent months but rejected their advances not wanting to leave Yanga in the period when their league campaign was not concluded and still competing for two cups.
However, the Amakhosi move has now seemingly come at the right time. But it comes with the Tunisian seeking his own assistant coach, a goalkeeper coach, and a strength and conditioning coach to be hired with him, should he be appointed as the man to lead the Soweto giants next season.
Should Chiefs be open to accepting the terms or entering further negotiations, the former Al-Merrikh SC boss could arrive as early as next week to conclude the move but as things stand, it’s touch and go.
