PSL Transfer Window Deadline Day Live

Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns have both announced marquee Deadline Day signings, while Cape Town City also completed a major deal.

CONFIRMED DEALS

23:27: Sipho Chaine joined Orlando Pirates from Chippa United.

Orlando Pirates completed a second transfer on Deadline Day after Sipho Chaine was registered with the Buccaneers at the PSL offices.

The club are yet to announce the transfer and confirm the player’s contract details.

20:04: Cape Town City loan Lyle Lakay from Mamelodi Sundowns.

The reigning Defender of the Season joined the Citizens on a one-year loan deal after falling down the pecking order at Mamelodi Sundowns.

He returned to City four years after leaving them for Chloorkop.

17:01: Orlando Pirates sign Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo from Marumo Gallants.

The Buccaneers shocked many in South Africa after announcing the shock major signing of Ndlondlo, despite coach Jose Riveiro insisting they were done with signings this window.

16:35: Mamelodi Sundowns sign Abdelmounaim Boutouil from SCC Mohammedia.

Masandawana completed their signings by adding the Moroccan defender to their ranks, who becomes the first Botola Pro player to move to the Premier League.

Earlier on Deadline Day, Cape Town City have became the first side active on the day, announcing the loan of Mogamat May to Motsepe Foundation Championship side La Masia.

May, 24, joined the Citizens from Steenberg United in January, but has only started two games since. This season, he has only made one appearance off the bench against Mamelodi Sundowns.

RUMOURS

Orlando Pirates have dismissed a late enquiry from Cape Town City to sign Kwame Peprah.

The 21-year-old striker has fallen down the pecking order at Pirates since the arrival of head coach Jose Riveiro and the the signings Bienvenu Eva Nga and Evidence Makgopa.

After scoring nine goals in 38 games last season across all competitions, the Ghana striker has become concerned about his development with first-team prospects diminishing and only 84 minutes of football being offered in the 2022/23 season thus far.

This comes off the back of R9-million bid from Al Ahli not being responded to in August and suitors in Europe being put off by the asking-price set by the Buccaneers.

City, who have been in search of striker to bolster their attacking options for continental football, made contact with Pirates over the past 48 hours. However, they have been informed that the player is not available as he will still form part of their first-team plans for the season.
