The WAFCON-winning Banyana Banyana stars from Limpopo were surprised by another financial gift after the Limpopo provincial government announced that they will reward their local stars with R100,000 each.
At an event to welcome them home and celebrate their achievements on Thursday morning, Thandi Moraka, from the Limpopo Department of Sports, Arts & Culture, announced the bonus, saying how proud the province is of their stars.
R50 000 will come from the MEC’s Outreach Programme, while other half will come from the government’s Sports Awards programme.
Banyana stars Hildah Magaia, Amogelang Motau, Lebogang Ramalepe, Noko Matlou and Nomvula Kgoale all hail from the Limpopo province.
“You are our children,” Moroka said at the event.
“The little that we are giving you, don’t compare it with what you getting elsewhere.
“You must know that it is from the bottom of our hearts. If we had it more, we would increase what we’re giving you here today.
“Each one of you are going to walk away with R100,000.”
