AmaZulu FC and Malawi forward Gabadinho Mhango has been named Malawian Sports Man Of The Year at their annual awards.
Mhango was instrumental for the flames during the 2022 African Cup Of Nations in Cameroon as he scored three goals to lead his side to the round of 16 for the first time in the country’s history.
The 29-year-old scored one of the tournament’s best goals, from range against Morocco which earned widespread praise across the continent.
Malawi lost to the Atlas Lions by 2-1 in the last 16 but at club level, he failed to convince then co-head coaches Mandla Ncikazi and Fadlu Davids for a regular starting berth.
But since his move to Usuthu, Mhango seems to have gotten his form as he scored three goals already this season after seven games.
