Msimango Maintains Confidence Ahead Of Chippa Clash

Kaizer Chiefs defender Given Msimango is adamant that they can put in another good performance when travel to the Eastern Cape to take on Chippa United in the Betway Premiership on Saturday.

Amakhosi are brimming with confidence following their come-from-behind shock 2-1 win over Mamelodi Sundowns in the Nedbank Cup semifinals to set up a Soweto Derby final against nemesis Orlando Pirates.

Msimango has been used sparingly in the team this season, making just 11 appearances across all competitions, and the 27-year-old believes that they will be able to hold themselves up against the Chilli Boys who they have already beaten twice this term.

“Chippa United are a very competitive side; very structured, very disciplined. We have faced them before in the league and come out victorious and also managed to get one over them in the [Nedbank] Cup,” Msimango told the club’s website.

“However, that doesn’t mean that we demand anything less than full concentration from ourselves. We have studied them and we’re ready to match their energy and intensity on the day.

“Personally, I’m in a good space. I have been putting in the hard work on and off the pitch and I feel confident in my contribution to the team. It’s always about improving, staying consistent,” said the Brakpan-born centreback.

“I believe my focus has started showing in my performances and I’m just looking forward to maintaining good form and helping the team.

“To our amazing supporters, we see you, we hear you, we appreciate you. When the Khosi nation stands behind us, it lifts us, and I can’t stress enough how much of a difference your presence makes. It’s not just about football, it’s about pride. It’s about unity and hope, So, thank you to all the Amakhosi supporters for standing behind us and being there all the time… the difficult times and the good times.

“I hope to see many of you at the stadium on Saturday. Let’s fill the stands and create an unforgettable atmosphere. Your voices are our fuel, guys. Without you we are nothing.”

The match kicks off at 18:30 from the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Gqeberha.
