Official: Davids Lands New Job

Former Orlando Pirates co-head coach has landed himself a new job and will join former Buccaneers coach Josef Zinnbauer at Lokomotiv Moscow.

Davids left Pirates at the end of the season, telling iDiski Times in an exclusive interview the co-coaching aspect alongside Mandla Ncikazi didn’t work for him.

He had been a free agent since and was linked with posts in South Africa, but his ambition was to coach outside of the country.

He has now again linked up with Zinnbauer and will work as his assistant in Russia, as first reported by Soccer Laduma. Zinnbauer joined the Russian side after his own sabbatical from the game following his resignation at Pirates ahead of the 2021/22 campaign in the beginning of the new season.

However, his start in Moscow has been stuttering as his new side has only won three of their first 12 games under the German tactician and sit in 12th position on the log.

On Tuesday, Davids put pen to paper on his new stint to reunite with Zinnbauer after agreeing to a contract until the end of the season.

“We have maintained that Fadlu’s next move would be a strategic one,” Davids’ agent Rasthoem Simons of 5sSports told iDiski Times.

“Europe is every coach’s dream destination and it’s a step in the right direction not only for him but for all other aspiring South African coaches.”
