Bafana & Botswana Starting XIs Announced

Bafana Bafana and Botswana have confirmed their starting XIs for their friendly match at the FNB Stadium this evening.

Hugo Broos’ men enter the game on the back of a convincing 4-0 victory over Sierre Leone on Saturday, thanks to goals by Themba Zwane, who netted a brace, Mihlali Mayambela and Aubrey Modiba.

However, on Tuesday Broos selected a much changed line-up after already indicating he would give every player in camp a chance to shine.

It was Bafana’s first win after their defeats to France and Morocco and gave the team a much-needed confidence boost.

Botswana, meanwhile, have not won any of their last five matches, drawing three and losing two – including a 2-1 defeat to a youthful Bafana at the recent COSAFA Cup.

“When you analyse the opponent and you saw Sierra Leone on Saturday. I think it’s logic we have to expect a tougher game,” Broos said in his pre-match press conference.

“I think Botswana and South Africa is always something special, so the guys will be motivated against us. And also, what I saw from Botswana in their games, they are better than Sierra Leone, so it will be tough for us.”

Here is how they line up:

Bafana XI: Mothwa, Mudau, Xulu (c), De Reuck, Msani, Mthethwa, Mosele, Mokoena, Du Preez, Mmodi, Mayo.

Subs: Williams, Buthelezi, Mobbie, Sibisi, Maela, Modiba, Sithole, Le Roux, Sekgota, Zwane, Mayambela, Lepasa.

Botswana XI: Malapelae, Legopelo, Molefe, Dithlokwe, Gaolaolwe, Mohutsiwa, Ditsele, Cooper, Orebonye, Seakanyeng, Setsile.
