Official: Musona Retires From International Football

Former Kaizer Chiefs striker Knowledge Musona has announced his retirement from international football.

 

The 31-year-old was on the books of Kaizer Chiefs between 2009 and 2014 and earned his debut for the national team during that spell. Overall, he featured 49 times for the Warriors since making his debut in 2010, scoring 24 goals.

Musona, who is playing for Al Tai in the Saudi Professional League, stated he wants to focus more on his club career and also give the new generation a chance in the national team.

During his national team career, Musona featured at three different Africa Cup of Nations Tournaments at the 2017, 2019 and 2022 editions, which was the first time in the country’s history they qualified for three successive AFCONs.

Overall, Musona scored 15 goals in 23 qualifying matches for Africa’s showpiece, being one of the standout performers of the recent Zimbabwe generation.
