Riveiro Comments On Mofokeng’s Bafana Snub

Orlando Pirates head coach Jose Riveiro would not be drawn into discussing Relebohile Mofokeng missing out on the Bafana Bafana provisional squad named by Hugo Broos last week.

Nine Pirates players were included in Broos’ list of 50 released last week, however, after Pirates’ win against Arrows on Sunday, Riveiro was asked about whether he thought teenager Relebohile Mofokeng should have received a call-up.

Many pundits had touted the young Pirates winger as a possible inclusion for next month’s Africa Cup of Nations.

“Like I said many times I try to see my players like a collective,” Riveiro responded at the post-match press conference.

“We want to help them to improve, all of them as an individual, and contribute to the collective performance.

“And hopefully we can have 5, 6, 7, 10 players in the Bafana list.

“Also, our foreigners, I think they are doing also very well, to go with their respective national teams.

“For us, like I said many times our players are always ready to play for the national team. And that’s the most important thing.”
