New Kaizer Chiefs signing Siyethemba Sithebe has opened up on the controversy around his pre-contract with Amakhosi before making a bold trophy claim.
Sithebe, 29, signed a two-year deal with the Glamour Boys but was frozen out by AmaZulu for the second half of the 2021/22 campaign, with Usuthu president Sandile Zungu claiming he agreed to his Chiefs move before entering the final six months of his contract.
Amakhosi’s new midfielder now opened up on the ordeal around his move, saying it was a tough time on the sidelines.
“There were a lot of negotiations for me to be finally here,” he said, as per The Sowetan.
“It was tough being frozen out because I used to be a regular, playing all the games. It stressed me to find out that I was not going to play again until the upcoming season.
“My happiness is back now. I am very happy to be here. I grew up supporting Kaizer Chiefs, so now I feel at home. I will fight for this badge.
“I have been playing in the PSL for a while now. I know who I am. I can promise our supporters that I will continue to be the player they know.”

Sithebe is also confident that his new side can finally end their trophy drought in this coming campaign.
“Chiefs are a big team. I am happy with the quality we have in playing personnel,” he added.
“I think trophies are coming this coming season. We will try and win all the games.”
Sithebe was unveiled as Chiefs’ new Nr.6, taking over the shirt number from Kearyn Baccus.
