Zwane Reveals Why Club Dragged Feet On Caleb Signing

Kaizer Chiefs coach Arthur Zwane has revealed why the club took relatively long to finalise the signing of new striker Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana.

Bimenyimana scored both of Chiefs goals on Saturday, when Chiefs came back from a goal down to beat SuperSport United and former coach Gavin Hunt.

It was Bimenyimana’s first start for the game after joined the club last month but initially had to wait for his work permit. Initially, though, Bimenyimana returned home after his trial at Amakhosi and it seemed as though Chiefs would pass on him.

However, Zwane explained the club had to make sure they’re signing a striker with the profile they needed.

“Caleb is giving us a different dimension,” he told reporters.

“You know we have a lot of nippy players, who are very good in one-vs-ones and also who are not that much strong on the ball but very, very mobile.

“So Caleb is very strong on the ball and he’s very quick to attack, he’s explosive to attack the near post – he’s that type of a striker.

“That’s why we had to take our time to bring in someone and we had to make sure that when he comes in we need to complement him.

“Because it’s pointless to bring in a player and he’s not fitting the way want to play, so we had to obviously profile him properly to say this is how he can help us in making sure our game improves.”
