Brighton & Hove Albion coach Graham Potter has given an important update about Percy Tau ahead of his side’s clash with Manchester United.
The ‘Young Lion’ represented South Africa during the recent international break but was not able to prevent Bafana Bafana’s failure to qualify for the 2021 AFCON.
However, because South Africa is classified as a high-risk country under COVID-19 regulations in the United Kingdom Tau has had to go into a 10-day quarantine upon his return to England.
His coach now confirmed that Tau will miss the game at Old Trafford on Sunday.
“He was very keen to go and it was an important opportunity for him,” Potter confirmed in his pre-match press conference.
“He felt it was important for him to get some game time.
“When we weighed it up, we knew the negative of the quarantine but at the same time we have helped him to play for his country.
“He’s a fit lad and we can help him while he is quarantining. We just have to adapt to not having him for ten days.”
So far, Tau has only made two Premier League appearances for the Seagulls and he has spent the last 10 fixtures on the bench as an unused substitute.
