In a rare interview, Cavin Johnson has thanked Al Ahly for giving him a chance and gave some insights into head coach Pitso Mosimane.
Johnson joined Mosimane when he moved to Egypt last year and has since been working as one of the club’s assistant coaches.
The former Platinum Stars, SuperSport United, AmaZulu and Black Leopards coach is part of Al Ahly’s technical team that has lead the club to back-to-back CAF Champions League titles.
“I thank Al Ahly for giving me the chance to be a part of such a great team, I thank the head coach and the technical staff too,” Johnson ONTime Sports, as cited by Kingfut.
“Playing the final of any tournament is always difficult but the experience was on our side. Mosimane has a lot to give to Al Ahly.
“Al Ahly take things slowly, step by step, and that’s what Mosimane does too, they think long term.
“Mosimane deals with players wisely, he knows how to prepare the team.
Johnson also spoke about the FIFA Club World Cup, which will take place in December in Japan this year.
“It’s still too early to talk about the FIFA Club World Cup, we take things one step at a time, our next step is the Egyptian Premier League,” he added.
Al Ahly return to domestic football on Thursday evening, when they will take on National Bank of Egypt.
