Official: BVB Confirm Sancho Sale To Man Utd
Borussia Dortmund have confirmed the sale of Jadon Sancho to Manchester United for a fixed amount of €85 million (R1.44 billion).
Sancho joins United after four years with the Bundesliga side. Dortmund had bought him from Manchester City in a deal worth €7.84 million (R133 million), with City expected to also receive parts of the fee after including a buy-on clause in the deal.
The 21-year-old, who is currently with the England camp, still needs to pass his medical and is yet to be announced by United.
Dortmund, however, had to confirm the deal because they are a listed company, sending out a message to their shareholders on Thursday.
“The player Jadon Sancho is about to move from Borussia Dortmund to Manchester United. Both clubs and the player reached an agreement on this today. If the transfer is realised, Manchester United will pay BVB a fixed transfer of €85 million,” the statement reads.
“The contractual details now have to be coordinated and documented. The formal processing of the transfer is also subject to the successful completion of all necessary medical tests and examinations, a coordination procedure with the player’s previous club and the proper and timely processing in accordance with the provisions of the FIFA Transfer Matching System.”
Sancho made 137 appearances for Dortmund, scoring 50 goals and assistant another 64. He is expected to sign a five-year contract at Old Trafford.
Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Witzke said during a press conference on Thursday: “It was Jadon’s wish to leave after the transfer did not work out last year.”
