Pitso Mosimane has announced his squad for the upcoming CAF Champions League first-leg against his former side Mamelodi Sundowns, missing two key players.
The South African coach and his Egyptian team will welcome his former club in Cairo on Saturday, with Al Ahly having won their last three home games against Masandawana without conceding.
However, the hosts have experienced a little rough patch in the league lately, collecting just 11 points from their last seven games after a packed fixture schedule and some injuries to key players.
Mosimane will miss two of his main protagonists against Downs, namely left-back Ali Maaloul, who Downs co-head coach Rulani Mokwena pointed out will be a huge loss for his former mentor, as well as central midfielder Mohamed Mahmoud, with both being sidelined with injuries.
Here is Al Ahly’s squad in full:
Goalkeepers:
Mohamed El Shenawy, Ali Lotfy, Mostafa Shobier
Defenders:
Badr Benoun, Mahmoud Wahid, Ahmed Ramadan Beckham, Mohamed Hany, Mahmoud Metwally, Ramy Rabia, Yasser Ibrahim, Ayman Ashraf

Forwards:
