Hunt: These Two Chiefs Stars Will Miss Simba
Kaizer Chiefs coach Gavin Hunt has confirmed which two Amakhosi players will miss the CAF Champions League clash against Simba on Saturday.
The Glamour Boys will welcome the Tanzanian giants in a much-anticipated first leg of their quarter-final at the FNB Stadium on Saturday at 18:00.
Despite their domestic struggles this season, Chiefs qualified for the quarter-finals of the competition for a first time ever.
They will now face the Group A winners, who secured their spot in the last eight topping the group above Pitso Mosimane’s Al Ahly.
Hunt confirmed in a press conference on Friday that only Itumeleng Khune and Khama Billiat will miss the important first leg at home.
“At the back, Itu [Khune] is obviously still struggling with a shoulder injury and he is suspended anyway. So he is out,” Hunt confirmed.
“And then we’ve got Khama [Billiat] obviously, who I think should be close. But it’s just those two.”
Hunt also spoke about the club’s superb run in the CAF competition in comparison to their struggles in the DStv Premiership, saying they could be at the top of the log, if their domestic performances and results were as good as on the continent.
“It’s a bit frustrating because you want to have consistency in both competitions, which we haven’t had,” he added.
“We’ve seemed to play our best football in the Champions League. We played really good football as well.
“It’s hard to put your finger on it. If it was the other way around, we’d be at the top of the league.”
