Pitso Opponents Hit By Covid-19
The opponents of Al Ahly and Pitso Mosimane in the CAF Champions League have been hit by Covid-19 and will miss two of their players for the second leg.
The ‘Club of the Century’ won the first leg 1-0 in Tunisia despite a teargas incident ahead of the game that saw the match postponed by one hour.
On Saturday, Al Ahly welcome Esperance in Cairo and will hope to book their second consecutive CAFCL final ticket.
Esperance have confirmed that two of their players, namely: Mohamed-Ali Yaakoubi and Houcine Rabii will miss the match after testing positive for Covid-19.
In addition, Ghailene Chaalali is also unavailable due to a thigh issue, with 24 players part of the traveling squad to Egypt.
Defender Sameh Derballi, though, remained positive ahead of the second leg, telling the club’s website: “We have everything we need to reverse the first leg. You have to believe in it, you need a warrior mentality.”
Esperance won the CAF Champions League in 2018 and 2019 but also miss their key player Taha Yacine Khenissi, who received a one-year ban from CAF after testing positive for steroids in a doping test.
