Zim Coach – We’ll Face Bafana Without Nine Starters
Zimbabwe coach Zdravko Logarusic has confirmed that his side will be without nine starters and only have four match fit players to face South Africa.
The Croatian coach, who has been in charge of the Warriors since 2020, was not too pleased with his side’s preparations for the FIFA World Cup qualifier on Friday.
He listed several players who are out without disclosing the reasons, saying at least eight to nine starters cannot play.
“We have to play this game without nine starters,” he told reporters.
“(Tendayi) Darikwa, right full-back, (Teenage) Hadebe, central defender, (Brandon) Galloway, our second central defender, (Jordan) Zemura, (Marvelous) Nakama, David Moyo upfront. Ovidy (Karuru), we forgot Ovidy.
“That means, eight or nine (players) are not here, this is a completely new team.
“Second, we realised Alec Mudimu, he is not ready for the game. That means now we’re not having any central defender who can come and play at the level for qualification for the World Cup.
“Now we just have to improvise something, it will be not be easy for us.”
Lorarusic also highlighted that, of his 29-man squad, only four players are match fit.
“Other problem is, I’m talking about problems, I’m not talking about excuses. Only four players are match fit,” he added.
“We have (Onismor) Bhasera, we have Khama (Billiat), we have our captain (Knowledge) Musona and we have Marshall (Munetsi).”
Zimbabwe will host South Africa at 15:00 in Harare on Friday.
