Orlando Pirates defender Paseko Mako has been released from hospital but is officially ruled out for the remainder of the 2021/22 campaign.
Mako suffered a horrific fracture on his forehead above his eye after a collision with goalkeeper and teammate Richard Ofori in their 0-0 draw with Baroka at the Peter Mokaba Stadium last week.
The impact that initially left him unconscious before eventually regaining consciousness en route to get medical attention, saw him hospitalised for just under a week while the rest of the squad travelled to Tanzania for their first leg CAF Confederation Cup quarter-final against Simba SC.
According to MTN FC journalist Mark Gleeson, Mako has returned home and is recovering well, with the technical team confirming he should be back for the start of the new campaign without any issues.
The 28-year-old has been an ever-present figure at left-back for the Buccaneers this season, featuring in 33 out of a possible 39 games across all competitons.
