Qualifiers Decided Ahead Of Bayhill 2024

After four months of local qualifications, and with 50 days to go, the 12 Western Cape qualifying teams for this year’s Bayhill Premier Cup have been confirmed.

The Bayhill tournament will take place from the 27 March until the 1 April, and like in 2023, the first five days of South Africa’s premier U19 competition will take place at Erica Park in Belhar, before the final day moves to the Athlone Stadium.

The 12 qualified teams from the Western Cape, who began their journeys in October 2023, will join the seven automatic qualifiers, as well as 13 visiting teams.

The visiting teams, national and foreign, will be revealed next month at the tournament launch.

The automatic qualifiers are last year’s champions Grassy Park FC; hosts Bayhill United FC;  two invitational teams – an LFA Mitchells Plain Team and a SAFA CT XI; and the three local PSL teams – Cape Town City and Cape Town Spurs, Stellenbosch FC.

The 12 teams who qualified via the play-offs, beating out 194 other sides are: Hanover Park, Rebels FC, Westridge FC, FC Porto, Young Bafana Soccer Academy, FN Rangers St Agnes, Ubuntu Academy, Junction Rovers FC, Elsies River United FC, Clover FC, Rygersdal and Everton FC.

The Bayhill Premier Cup started 36 years ago and is the longest-running community-driven U19 tournament in the country.
