After it ended goalless between Ubuntu and Rangers, it was Ubuntu who prevailed in the shootout 7-6 to knockout last year’s finalists.
City and AmaZulu ended 1-1, before City, now the strong favourites, moved on victoriously 4-2 in the shootout.
The semi-finals will be played on Sunday evening before Monday’s final at Athlone Stadium. SAFA Cape Town will take on Randburg, before Cape Town City face Ubuntu for their places in the Bayhill showpiece.
