ABC Playoffs Semi-Finalists Confirmed

The four semi-finalists have been confirmed at the ABC Motsepe Promotion playoffs in Upington as the group stages drew to a close on Wednesday.

Njampela FC, Kruger United, Highbury FC and Thames FC have qualified for the semi-final, with two of them set to qualify for the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

They will now battle it out for the two promotion places to the Motsepe Foundation Championship at stake, with the two winners of the semi-finals earning

In Group A, it was KwaZulu-Natal’s Njampela FC who reached the semi-finalists first after they beat FN Rangers 2-1 on Wednesday morning. Having drawn against Mpheni Home Defenders on Tuesday, it was enough to see Tshepo Motsoeneng’s team book their place in the last four. Rangers had beat Mpheni 4-1 on Tuesday and they finished second in the group on three points.

In Group B, the Eastern Cape’s Highbury booked their place after beating Manguang Unite and drawing with Thames on the first two days. In the final game Thames beat Mangaung Unite 1-0 to reach four points and join Highbury in the semis.

Group C was won by Mpumalanga’s Kruger United, who beat NC Professionals on Tuesday before drawing with Dondol Stars on Wednesday. Gauteng’s Dondol ended second on two points after a hard-fought 2-2 draw with NC Pros on Thursday afternoon.
