AmaTuks Confirm Coach Departure

Hollywoodbets Super League side University of Pretoria have confirmed the exit of Maude Khumalo as head coach ending her eight-year reign at the club.

AmaTuks said in statement on Monday that Khumalo is leaving for a role at the South African Football Association (SAFA) where she has been a regular with the national women’s junior sides.

Khumalo played a pivotal role in aiding the side gain promotion from the SASOL League in 2022.

In the three seasons in South Africa’s highest women’s football league, they have finished in the top eight twice, first, their maiden campaign in 2023 in sixth place with 42 points then they ended in eighth position with 42 points in 2024. Last season, they recorded their lowest finish, ninth with 38 points.

The former Banyana Banyana defender also won the University Sports South Africa (USSA) National Championship with AmaTuks in 2023.

The statement further revealed Khumalo’s former assistant Sibusiso Temba who has worked with the team since 2023 as the new head coach of the side.

Meanwhile, the club’s manager Pearl Mosoane was quoted reflecting on Khumalo’s contribution saying they are grateful for the work the coach has done.

“Coach Maude Khumalo’s contribution to the growth and success of our women’s football programme has been exceptional,” said Mosoane.

“We are grateful for her service and excited to see her take this next step with SAFA. At the same time, we have full confidence in Coach Shoota to carry the team forward and build on the progress achieved.”

The club has been in pre-season preparing for the 2026 campaign after announcing 16 new players and a sponsor in April.
