It was another frustrating evening for Benni McCarthy in the DStv Premiership as his AmaZulu side were held to a 0-0 draw by TS Galaxy at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Tuesday evening.
Usuthu came into the tie in high morale after their first-ever CAF Champions League group stage win when they beat Horoya on Friday evening at the same venue.
But they came crashing down to earth with their 13th draw in 21 league outings that leaves them in seventh place in the 16-team division.
Despite having 20 shots at goal, only three were on target as the front-three of Augustine Mulenga, Abraham Majok and Luvuyo Memela couldn’t find that fluency that saw them earn plenty of plaudits across the continent a few days ago.
Meanwhile, Galaxy were good for their point away from home as they moved up to 13th, three points off 16th placed Baroka in their bid to stave off relegation under head coach Sead Ramovic.
They are now three matches unbeaten in all competitions following their 1-0 win over Swallows last week and the memorable Nedbank Cup triumph over Kaizer Chiefs.
The Rockets’ next challenge however, is a home game to champions Mamelodi Sundowns next month – while McCarthy’s troops host Algerian giants ES Setif on Friday evening (18h00).
