Arrows Learn Fate Over Points Docking Drama

Golden Arrows have avoided being docked points for fielding an ineligible player, the Premier Soccer League (PSL) prosecutor Zola Majavu has confirmed.

Arrows were in danger of losing points in the DStv Premiership after the former Portugal based talent was signed by the club and represented them without an International Transfer Certificate (ITC).

As first reported by iDiski Times, the misunderstanding over the whole saga was due to the player joining from a SAFA Regional League under the SAFA Ethekwini Outer West Stream, a club he joined after five years in Europe.

Majavu has confirmed both the player and club have been found guilty and a fine may be imposed with the player having represented Arrows eight times this season.

“A week ago the PSL DC had returned a guilty verdict against both the club and Mr. Mbhele pertaining to Mr. Mbhele registration which it concluded was improper,” he said.

“The question of sanction was then argued and judgement in that regard was reserved. The sanction ruling has deemed it appropriate to reprimand both the club and the player and ordered both of them – the one paying the other to be absolved to pay the costs of the two seatings.

“The exact amount has yet to be computed by the league, however, there was no decision with regard to any monetary fine or the deduction of points. It will be remembered that in convincing the club, as well as the player for the said improper registration the DC, found dishonest conduct was not proved by the league.

“With that being the case, it felt that the sanction, pertaining to docking of points would thus be inappropriate under the circumstances.”

In the games Mbhele featured for the club, Arrows won once and drew three, while losing a further three games.
