Barker – We’re Going All Out For Maximum Points

After drawing against Orlando Pirates in their opening DStv Premiership game, Stellenbosch head coach Steve Barker says they’ll be targeting three points against TS Galaxy on Wednesday.

It will be Stellenbosch’s first home game of the season, and Barker says they want to make the DC (Danie Craven) Stadium a fortress.

Barker says if they can convert the chances they’ve been creating, and they can go into the FIFA break with a win under their belt, he will be a happy man.

However the team will be without the injury trio of Granwald Scott, Marc Van Heerden and Solly Letsoenyo.

“We have our first home fixture, obviously against TS Galaxy, and we’ve always intended and want to make Danie Craven a fortress for ourselves,” Barker told the club’s media department.

“So it starts tomorrow (Wednesday) against Galaxy, who are not an easy team to play, an uncomfortable team to play against, difficult to break down, they showed that in their previous fixture against Kaizer Chiefs.

“However, it’s more about what we can do and what we need to be achieving at our home venue and we want to be applying the pressure on opposition and taking initiative in the game, playing on the front foot and go back to creating the amount of chances we were creating last season, hopefully we can just continue to convert as we did against Pirates.

“So all in all looking forward to the first home game of the season, thereafter there’s a good break, so maximum points would have given us a good decent start to to the season.

“So we’re going all out for maximum points.”
