Baxter Explains Nurkovic Sub
Kaizer Chiefs coach Stuart Baxter has explained Samir Nurkovic’s early substitute in his side’s 0-0 draw with TS Galaxy.
The Amakhosi striker was replaced by Keagan Dolly after just 54 minutes but Baxter explained it was on Nurkovic’s performance rather than an injury.
Baxter also confirmed that Chiefs need to change things up, which is why he put Keagan Dolly on.
“Sami was frustrated because good players usually are when they are not performing well,” Baxter told SuperSport tv.
“He was trying very hard but he just wasn’t producing what he can produce. Keagan’s fitness allows him to play half an hour, 40 minutes, so we looked for the mobility.”
Baxter said that Dolly initially did what he wanted but the Chiefs remained toothless because of their poor decision-making on the night.
“When he first came on I got what I wanted, but because the decision-making drifted in and out a little bit we didn’t get enough,” he added.
“It’s a frustrating evening. But then again a point away from home and you are on the board.
“And we get more information and hopefully players like Keagan get those extra-minutes and we can make tweaks to the way we play and hopefully we’ll take three points out of our next game.”
