Breaking: Chiefs Sack Hunt

Kaizer Chiefs have sacked Gavin Hunt with immediate effect, the club confirmed on Friday.

The 56-year-old was fired on Friday following a run of bad results in the DStv Premiership and despite his side’s historic run in the CAF Champions League.

Hunt did not finish his maiden campaign at the club after winning just two of their last 16 games in the league.

Arthur Zwane and Dillon Sheppard will take over of the team in the interim.

“Kaizer Chiefs have terminated coach Gavin Hunt’s contract with immediate effect,” reads a club statement on social media.

“In the interim, Assistant Coaches Arthur Zwane and Dillon Sheppard will take charge of the senior team. The Club will make further announcements in due course.”

Hunt will now be denied a chance to lead his side into the CAF Champions League semi-final after qualifying for the last four of the competition for a first time ever.

His last game in charge was a 2-1 defeat to bottom-placed Black Leopards in his 900th game in senior management.
