Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has confirmed that he called up Njabulo Ngcobo as a 24th player into his squad for the upcoming FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
The 69-year-old had announced a 23-man squad for the FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Zimbabwe and Ghana last week.
However, Broos opted to add Ngcobo as addition player because Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Mothobi Mvala picked up a slight injury.
“We had a few problems, as you know with Lebusa, Maema and Sithole, but also now Mvala had a little injury,”
“He will not train today and tomorrow and then we’ll see and decide on Wednesday if he will be ready for the game on Friday.
“For that reasons we called a 24th player, with Ngcobo. He is here with us since this morning and we will see with Mvala. Maybe we will go to Zimbabwe with 24 players.”
The reigning DStv Premiership Defender of the Season was initially not included in the squad because he hasn’t featured for his new club yet.
Ngcobo was the only player added to the initial squad of 23 players, which you can find below.
