Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has had some special praise for Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Mothobi Mvala.
The 69-year-old was pleased with what he saw in Mvala, and says he is very salient player in his squad.
The Sundowns midfielder missed the second game against Ethiopia after scoring in the first clash away from home because of an injury.
“Mothobi becomes a very important player for us on the midfield, and that you saw in the game here in Joburg against Ethiopia, he was not there for injury, but we missed him,” he told Skepe Matsebane on PowerSportExtra Show.
“And he became a very important player, is a type of payer you don’t find so much, he is really defensive midfielder for me. He can play the ball, he can give a good pass, he is strong, he’s top.
“So for me, the ideal type to play on that position, and therefore I put him there. In his team he plays a bit different. But for me, the guy is the lock on the door. And when he doesn’t play, you feel it, we felt it against Ethiopia.
“You know when a player feels that a coach has confidence in him, then it becomes a bit easier. So when they feel that they put him in the team, but the process still doubts about him.
“This is another good situation, so I gave him the full confidence, because I thought that he should do it, and he did it.
“So now I think he is confident, more confident than the month ago when it was the first time. Because Mothobi is not someone who speaks a lot, he is a quiet man. So he’s a bit introvert.
“But when you see him on the field, the contrary, so I like him very much, and certainly on the position on he plays in Bafana Bafana.”
