Broos’s Concerns About Physicality

Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos says that from what he has seen so far, he is concerned about the physical levels in African football, and it is something they need to work on.

Broos was saw his side pick up a crucial win in their 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Ghana at the FNB Stadium on Monday.

The Belgian coach had attended a few DStv Premiership (and MTN8) games ahead of this international window and he says technically and tactically things look okay, but he is concerned about the physical intensity.

“I think technically, it’s okay,” Broos said.

“The league games I saw was technically okay, tatically, not a problem really, but I think there is a problem of physical level.

“When I compare that with for example the games with Bafana Bafana, when I saw today the highlights of the other games and I see the tempo of the game, I see the intensity of the game.

“I think on that level, African football is a little bit behind. So we have to make that good, to make or to play an important role in international football.”
