Amakhosi have given themselves a lifeline to end a below-par domestic campaign on a high following their 3-2 victory over Golden Arrows.
The three points ensured that Amakhosi have their fate in their own hands as they would qualify with a win over eight-placed Galaxy, who sit on 36 points.
If Chiefs would beat Galaxy, they would draw level on points but go above their opponents based on the better goal difference.
Galaxy, meanwhile, will secure top eight, if they can avoid defeat against the Glamour Boys.
Both sides have only ever met twice and Chiefs are yet to beat Galaxy, having drawn the reverse fixture 0-0, while losing the 2019 Nedbank Cup final against the then GladAfrica Championship side 1-0.
