Orlando Pirates co-caretaker coach Fadlu Davids has praised three of his players after Wednesday’s dominant win over Stellenbosch FC.
The Buccaneers finally rewarded themselves for their dominant displays and put three unanswered goals past Stellies, who had entered the match unbeaten.
Collins Makgaka and Deon Hotto, who scored a brace, were on the scoresheet for Pirates, with Davids praising both players.
“Ja, Collins was absolutely fantastic today,” he said after the match.
“Really, in terms of his calmness in between the lines, number one, but also then finding players with movements in behind defence line. When he has the ball you (are) guaranteed to have a one-on-one if you make the correct run, the ball (will) find you.”
On Hotto, he said “it was a clear we had to use Hotto to his strength today, really to try to get behind their right full-back, really in terms of the quality of balls that came into his area.
“And of course his pace, and then the composure to be able to get the first assist. But his movement today was superb, really his timing and exactly what we wanted, in the right moment in the right time to be able to get behind the defence line.“
Davids also praised centre-back Olisah Ndah who had a goal ruled out but has been a superb signing for the Buccaneers.
“Ndah is quite dominant in the air. (It was) just unfortunate, I’m not sure what happened but just unfortunate for him in terms of scoring his first goal for Pirates,” he added.
“But it will come, he is a dominant force, not only in attacking set pieces, but really in defence line, really doing well with a new partnership now with Ntsiki (Nyauza).”
The win saw Pirates remain in seventh place on the log but they are just three points off second spot and will return to action on Saturday, 27 November when they will welcome SuperSport United at Orlando Stadium.
