Kaizer Chiefs legend Doctor Khumalo has backed Teboho Mokoena’s move to Mamelodi Sundowns, saying he is going to the best team in the country.
Mokoena completed a stunning move to Masandawana in the January transfer window, signing a three-and-a-half year deal with an option of an additional year at Chloorkop.
Khumalo spoke to iDiskiTV about Mokoena’s move at the launch of Sundowns new original YouTube series and explained why he believes the Bafana Bafana midfielder made the right move.
“I think let me first congratulate him for achieving his move to Sundowns,” Khumalo told iDiskiTV.
“It has to be like that in football because just imagine if Sundowns were the only team to persuade players, we wouldn’t have a competitive league.
“For Chiefs and Pirates not being able to acquire the signature of Teboho, the least that I can say is that [it is] a great choice.
“He is going to the team that has got a flair, he’s going to a team that will challenge him, he’s going to a team that will elevate him.
“Because whether we like it or not, it has to be said, Sundowns are the best team at the moment, and I’m not disrespecting Chiefs or Pirates, but from what I have seen in the past two years Sundowns are the best team.”
