Majoro Gives AmaZulu Another Win

AmaZulu picked up a second consecutive win, when they beat Stellenbosch 2-1 in Friday’s only DStv Premiership game.

AmaZulu 2-1 Stellenbosch

AmaZulu came out 2-1 victors against Stellenbosch in a highly competitive match at the Kings Park Stadium.

After some initial good attacking from the visitors, with Ashley Du Preez and Deano Van Rooyen looking especially dangerous, AmaZulu almost went into the lead in the 18th minute, through an own goal, but Robyn Johannes’ deflection hit the woodwork and bounced clear.

Stellenbosch got on the scoresheet in the 27th minute, when former AmaZulu left back Marc Van Heerden got to the end of a Stanley Dimgba cross into the box and found himself unmarked on the far post, and he finished comfortably.

Bongi Ntuli equalised for AmaZulu in the 42nd minute, knocking it in from close range after Stellenbosch were unable to clear their lines.

Lehlohonolo Majoro put Usuthu into the lead seconds into the second half, following up well after his initial attempt was blocked by Lee Langeveldt.

After the goal, Steve Barker’s team began to apply the pressure as they sought the equaliser, but the Usuthu defence stood steadfast.

The win lifts Benni McCarthy’s side to seventh on the table.
