Deon Hotto has revealed that Orlando Pirates wanted to win the DStv Premiership in 2020/21 before explaining the main issue for Josef Zinnbauer and his team.
The 30-year-old winger produced Pirates best attacking returns this past season with seven goals and 10 assists in 45 appearances.
Hotto opened up on some of Pirates targets in an exclusive interview with iDiski Times senior writer Velile Mnyandu.
He explained that the Buccaneers did aim for the league title but continuous injuries to key players were the main struggle of Zinnbauer and his men.
“That (winning the league) was the talk from the first game, that was our aim, going all the way, get the Nedbank, go all the way with CAF (Confederations Cup), the league, but we didn’t make it, but we are fighting for next season,” he told iDiski Times.
“Let’s come back next season and see what we can do. For me this season we did work hard, what killed us was only the injuries.
“We had players injured so it was difficult for the coach to put up players, and we were playing every third day, most of our players were injured.
“I just pray we come back fresh and the injured guys for them to heal now and come back fresher also.”
