Johannes – This Club Is Filled With Young Talent

Ahead of the 2021/2022 DStv Premiership season, Robyn Johannes feels that Stellenbosch have all the right elements to do great things in the future.

The former Mamelodi Sundowns, Orlando Pirates, AmaZulu, Cape Town City and Bidvest Wits defender missed the end of last season through injury, but the club captain has been working hard to be ready for the new season.

Speaking in Edition 30 of iDiski Times with Rob Delport, Johannes is confident that Stellenbosch are on the verge of achieving big things.

“I have really enjoyed being at this club,” Johannes told iDiski Times.

“This club has all the right elements to do great things. We have a beautiful home ground and it is a pity that there is no fans at the stadium, we all miss them. We are living in difficult times and people need to stay safe.”

Johannes is also excited about some of the young players that Steve Barker has given chances to over the past year, but says they need to keep working hard.

“I have known coach Steve since my Tuks days and he has always prided himself in giving youngsters an opportunity, which I find amazing,” Johannes added.

“This club is filled with young talent. Their journeys are just starting.

“They need to keep working hard, never stop learning and improving.

“This game owes you nothing. As quickly as you got to the top, it will spit you back out to the bottom if you don’t give your all and you don’t respect it.”
