Khanye – Downs To Boss The League For Long
Former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Junior Khanye says that Mamelodi Sundowns will continue to dominate the DStv Premiership.
Masandawana have won the league four times successively from 2017/18 to 2020/21 seasons, to make it 11 overall in the PSL era.
The Tshwane giants are already on top of the league table in this current season, leading from 2nd-placed Stellenbosch by three points, with a game in hand.
Khanye, though, thinks it will take time for other clubs to stop them and reach the standard that Masandawana have.
“I can not see anyone catching up with Sundowns. To win five league titles in a row is not pap en vleis, and it proves that you are a club that dominates everyone,” Khanye wrote in his iDiski Times column.
“Former players like Surprise Moriri, Godfrey Sapula and many others are employed by Sundowns in the right positions. This eliminates any possibility of the club losing its identity and culture.
“Cape Town City, Supersport United and Swallows FC are also stable clubs, but they do not have enough on them to disturb Sundowns.
“It will be very difficult for anyone to disturb the domestic dominance of Sundowns. I don’t see it happening anytime from now.”
