Bloemfontein Celtic Head Coach John Maduka says it was a tough game against SuperSport United on Tuesday, but he was very happy to get the three points.
Celtic took the lead in the 50th minute through Reagan van der Ross, but Lucky Mohomi equalised seven minutes later.
But with ten minutes to go Motebang Sera grabbed the winner, and Maduka says he was very happy with the three points, but feels they could have scored more.
Celtic moved up to ninth on the table with the win.
“I think we played well. I think we started the game very well. We knew that SuperSport will come at us. And we were ready for that. And what we did is to make sure that we take the game to them,” Maduka said after the game..
“And again, at the same time we try and defend well, because I think that’s one area also that we’ve been lacking. Going forward, I think in the first half we did well, reaching their final third where we created a couple of chances that, if we were sharp enough, we’re supposed to get a goal or two. But unfortunately, our decision making was not up to standard.”
“So that was okay first half, second half, you know, we continue from where we left off, to continue creating chances. But at the same time, also keeping balanced at the back because we knew that SuperSport is a team that will always get your also on transition, especially from defending to attack.”
“So we managed to deal with it, we defend it so well, until you know, that moment we did manage to get to score a goal, after scoring a goal, we knew that they will come in all out and they did exactly that.”
“And as the game progressed, you know, we continue creating chances that you know, if our decision making was right, you know, we could have scored, you know, three, four or five in this game against SuperSport, but we managed to score the second goal, and we got the three points.”
“We happy to have the three points, not an easy game, but at the same time, very difficult game. At the same time, also very, very tough, tough, tough, tough game, but very entertaining.”
